Dan Gurmankin is a Senior Grants Associate at Democracy Fund, an independent foundation working to ensure that our political system is able to withstand new challenges and deliver on its promise to the American people. In this role, he ensures that the foundation’s grantmaking operations reflect philanthropic best practices and supports the administration of Democracy Fund’s grant portfolio.
Dan most recently served as Development Associate at Alliance for Justice, where he supported the management of grants from AFJ’s foundation funders as well as efforts to secure additional funding for the organization. Before joining AFJ, Dan worked as a Philanthropic Services Specialist at the law firm of Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP. There, his team administrated one of the world’s largest donor-advised fund programs and advised clients on their philanthropic activities. Prior to this role, Dan worked on the campaign of a progressive candidate for Boston City Council.
Dan holds an M.A. in Political Science from Central European University in Budapest and a B.A. in Philosophy, summa cum laude, from Northeastern University in Boston. While attending Northeastern, Dan held an internship in the office of US Senator Elizabeth Warren.
