Jahmila Roberts is the Development Manager, Movements and Media at Democracy Fund, an independent foundation working to ensure that our political system is able to withstand new challenges and deliver on its promise to the American people. Jahmila works on the Philanthropic Partnerships team to manage the fundraising and partnership development portfolio that supports both the Public Square and the Just & Inclusive Society programs. In this role, she focuses on cultivating partnerships across the philanthropic landscape to support these programs that are determined to strengthen the infrastructure of marginalized communities, hold platforms and the wealthy accountable, and create a truly inclusive multi-racial democracy.
Prior to joining Democracy Fund, Jahmila was a fundraising consultant at CCS Fundraising, a consulting firm that caters to nonprofits around the U.S. and abroad. While there, she built out strategy, conducted donor research, and managed the fundraising pipeline to support a multimillion dollar campaign for the NAACP. Prior to that, she gained fundraising experience at Open Society Foundations and the Democracy Alliance. During her time at Open Society Foundations, she oversaw portfolios related to local journalism, platform accountability and legal empowerment and, while at the Democracy Alliance, raised funds for Black, Latino and youth-led organizations and their civic engagement efforts.
Jahmila received her B.A. in Government & Politics and her B.A. in Economics from the University of Maryland.
