Laura Chambers is the Chief Operating Officer for Democracy Fund, an independent foundation working to ensure that our political system is able to withstand new challenges and deliver on its promise to the American people. She guides the organization’s overall systems to maximize Democracy Fund’s impact in its work.
Laura’s previous role was the Chief Operations Officer for the Democratic National Committee (DNC), where she managed various programs and initiatives while running the DNC’s daily operations. Prior to the DNC, Laura’s career spanned several distinguished NGO and advocacy organizations. She was the Chief of Staff at the United States Peace Corps, where she oversaw operations for the $410 million federal agency for three years. She previously served as the Director of Field Services for AARP’s Experience Corps program and also held leadership roles at the Global AIDS Alliance and Civic Ventures. Laura held the role of Vice President at the Advocacy Institute where she directed a $23 million Ford Foundation signature program, Leadership for a Changing World, focused on recognizing social justice leadership.
Laura earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the College of William and Mary. In addition, she received a Leadership for the 21st Century program certificate from Harvard University.
