Michael Castens is a Grants Associate at Democracy Fund, an independent foundation working to ensure that our political system is able to withstand new challenges and deliver on its promise to the American people. Michael provides grants administration, process improvement, and other operational support for the Just and Inclusive Society team.
Prior to joining Democracy Fund, Michael was with College Futures Foundation, a funder that supports the attainment of bachelor’s degrees for BIPOC students in California, where he worked on making workflows as humane as possible for internal and external stakeholders. Michael also worked at Fluxx, a Grants Management software provider, as a Sales Executive, and at the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation, an equity funder based in Little Rock, Arkansas where he was the Grants and Operations Manager.
Michael graduated from the University of Arkansas with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in communication with a political science minor.
