The Journalism DEI Tracker is a public database that includes organizations, institutions, and resources from the field of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in journalism. Designed for practitioners in the field and the foundations who support them, the Journalism DEI Tracker is a living document that is updated regularly. Foundations can use the tracker to identify potential organizations to fund as well as research that indicates the current state of the field. Journalism organizations can use it to find opportunities for professional development, recruitment, and resources to improve their coverage.
The Journalism DEI Tracker includes:
- Lists of organizations and news outlets focused on DEI within journalism
- Professional development and training opportunities, including grants, scholarships, fellowships, and leadership training opportunities for women journalists and journalists of color that funders can also consider supporting or promoting
- Lists of Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Hispanic-Serving Institutions, and Tribal Colleges with journalism and communications programs for journalism organizations to include in recruitment efforts to ensure a more diverse pipeline
- Resources for journalism organizations to promote respectful and inclusive coverage, such as diversity style guides and source databases.
