Fighting Against Racism Fueled by Fear of Migration
Within the United States, people are fleeing their homes to escape floods, wildfires, and pollution. Meanwhile, migrants are coming to the United States from across the world in search of safety.
As climate change and political crises escalate and people are forced to move, racist narratives about migration are spread more frequently by influential people abusing their power.
Hope Over Fear
Migrant and refugee communities can lead social movements that inspire hope over fear and bridge divides toward a more just and inclusive democracy. But that long-term, transformational change requires funding, capacity, and adequate resources that aren’t currently accessible to many of these groups.
The Power Building in Marginalized Communities Initiative invests in:
- Resources and organizing partners that support movement building led by migrant and refugee communities
- Place-based organizations that use new and proven methods to support migrant and refugee communities
- Rallying funders around the intersectional issues of climate, immigration, and democracy
