Anna Kegler

Manager, Content and Storytelling

Anna Kegler is the Manager, Content and Storytelling at Democracy Fund, an independent foundation working to ensure that our political system is able to withstand new challenges and deliver on its promise to the American people. She leads communications for Democracy Fund’s Public Square Team, which works to ensure all people have access to the news and information they need to engage in civic life, and use their voices without fear of being harassed, silenced, or ignored. This includes the foundation’s efforts to support trustworthy local news and investigative reporting, more equitable newsrooms, press freedom, community engagement, and digital spaces that advance democracy, not hate.

Anna joined Democracy Fund in 2019 after two years working on strategic communications in the human trafficking field at Polaris in Washington, D.C. As a Strategic Communications Specialist, she developed and managed the yearly strategic communications plan in support of the Disruption Strategies team’s work to end human trafficking in illicit massage parlors. Prior to joining Polaris, Anna held various communications roles in the private sector including Social Media Manager for Clarivate Analytics (formerly the Intellectual Property and Science business of Thomson Reuters) and Content Marketer at RJMetrics, a data-driven tech startup.

In 2013, Anna created an issue-framing transit ad campaign for an anti-street harassment organization in Philadelphia that got considerable press attention, went viral across multiple social media platforms, became a finalist for an Avon Innovative Campaign Award, and secured tenfold the original funding to be replicated the following year.

Anna holds an M.S. in Criminology from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. in Latin American Studies/Portuguese-Brazilian Studies from Smith College.
